Make Your Resolutions Sustainable

Make Your Resolutions Sustainable

Happy New Year! Welcoming in the new year means reflecting on what you did well this past year and what you aspire to add, change, or tweak this next year. Certainly, you want to select resolutions that are realistic, but also ones that are environmentally sustainable as well. Sometimes it can be a challenge to think of resolutions big and small that you can stick to, so here are some of our recommendations for the year ahead:

Protect Your Skin (and the planet):

Make a resolution to use green beauty alternatives this year. This means using products sourced from natural ingredients, rather than synthetics. Not only will this have positive outcomes for your skin, nails, and hair, but also for the environment. Many green beauty brands are on our ethical marketplace like Anumati Naturals and REVIVAL.

Protect the Environment:

Make a resolution to protect the environment by reducing plastic. This can be an easy resolution to start and stick to because you probably already have everything you need! Bring your own bag to the grocery store to eliminate your need for plastic bags; bring your own water bottle to the gym or to work so that you don't have to buy a plastic water bottle, and bring your own mug when you pick up your morning coffee.

Educate Yourself:

Educate yourself about sustainable fashion through documentaries, like Trust Cost, and books, like Wear No Evil by Greta Eagan. Understanding how to change the world through your wardrobe means having a broad context for what you wear and how it affects you, the people who make the clothes, and the world. You're also already doing a great job because you're reading through educational blogs.

Educate Your Friends and Family:

Because you're already on your way to make sustainable resolutions this year, be sure to share them with your family and friends! You can share your resolutions in person or on social media to be sure that you not only do your part but encourage those you love to do the same.
